ALARM REGISTRATION INFORMATION
|
On July 13, 1995, the Bushkill Township Board of Supervisors adopted an Alarm Ordinance. The purpose of this ordinance is to provide standards and regulations for alarm systems in an attempt to minimize false alarms and provide the emergency responder with accurate and essential data. A majority of emergency alarms to which Police and Emergency personnel responded are false. Such alarms are nuisances, resulting in a waste of manpower and tax dollars. Those installing new alarm systems will now need to apply for an alarm permit through the Bushkill Township Police Department or a fee of $20.00. Those with an existing alarm will also need to apply for a permit for a fee of $5.00. Alarm permits shall not be transferable from one individual to another or from one location to another. Any individual who fails to make application or register with the Bushkill Township Police Department will be subject to penalties and fines. Penalties: Any individual who does not make application or register a system with this department shall pay a fine. $50.00 - for new system $25.00 - for existing system $50.00 - for 2nd or subsequent offense of system
Any person who receives notification from the Bushkill Township Police Department, that an emergency service responded to three (3) nuisance alarms, as defined in the ordinance, within a forty-five (45) day period and continued to operate the alarm after notice of suspension, failure to correct any deficiencies in equipment or operation within 30 days after the receipt of notice of same will be subject to fines and penalties. Suspension of a permit may apply if any individual fails to fix deficient equipment or operation within 30 days. Suspension would continue until proof of correction is obtained by this department. Any individual who violates this section will be subjected to a $100.00 dollar fine, plus cost of prosecution.
