The Township has adopted a zoning ordinance which regulates the use, intensity of use, size, and location of buildings and other structures, as well as established regulations for land use by commercial, industrial, recreation, and public activities. The provisions of the zoning ordinance address prohibition of nuisances and performance standards, as well as control of home, profession, offices and home occupations. Copies of the ordinance are available for review at the municipal building or may be purchased for a cost of $20.00. Questions regarding the provisions of the zoning ordinance should be directed to the Township Zoning Officer at the municipal building.

SUBDIVISION AND LAND DEVELOPMENT

Bushkill Township has adopted a subdivision and land development ordinance regulating the subdivision of land, adjustment of lot lines, and development of lots for a single family, multifamily, commercial, industrial, and other uses. Plans are subject to review by Planning Commission with final approval by the Board of Supervisors. A copy of the subdivision and land development ordinance may be reviewed at the municipal building or purchased for a cost of $20.00.

WEEDS

The Township has adopted an ordinance which prohibits any person owning or holding any real estate within the Township to permit noxious weeds or other undesirable vegetation, grass, etc. to grow thereon to a height in excess of ten inches. Persons found guilty of violating this ordinance are subject to a fine.

PERMITS

Building/Zoning permits are required by the Township for, but not limited to the following: new construction, additions and structural alterations, in-ground and above-ground pools, storage sheds, signs, patios, decks, temporary uses and structures. Certain setbacks and constraints, as well as zoning requirements would apply before the issuance of a permit. A permit is required for the construction, repair, blacktop, paving or repaving of driveways or alleyways which connect with or intersect or enter upon roads or streets in the Township. Excavating and paving contractors must obtain a license to work in the Township.The cost of the permit is nominal and could avoid significant costs later if ordinances are ignored.

MOVING PERMITS

Any person or persons moving in or out of Township must obtain a moving permit. Permits are issued by the Tax Collector at 759-6784 at a cost of $5.00.

LITTERING/OUTDOOR STORAGE OF MATERIALS

The Township has adopted an ordinance, which prohibits any person owning or holding real estate within the Township to permit littering or storage of materials outdoors in or on any watercourse or private or public property. This litter or material includes, but is not limited to, the following: wastepaper, batteries, tires, sweeping, ashes, household waste, glass, metal, refuse, grass clippings, constructions materials, toxic wastes, rubbish, flammable or explosive liquids, solids or gases, and junked motor vehicles. Persons found guilty of violating this ordinance are subject to a fine.
